The São Paulo, New York and Miami offices of White & Case LLP, and Bocater, Camargo, Costa e Silva Advogados in São Paulo have helped Brazilian sugar and ethanol producer USJ complete a US$197 million notes exchange offer.
Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in São Paulo and New York, and Pinheiro Neto Advogados in São Paulo provided counsel to the dealer managers, while the trustee hired New York firm Perkins Coie LLP. The transaction closed on 17 May.
USJ exchanged notes due in 2019 for ones due in 2021. It is thought Emmet Marvin & Martin in New York advised the trustee of the previous series of notes, but this could not be confirmed before publication.
White & Case previously advised USJ in 2012, helping the company issue US$275 million worth of notes.
