Pinheiro Neto Advogados has helped Dutch coffee and tea maker Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) buy a portfolio of local brands from Brazilian coffee company Cacique, including the Pelé, Graníssimo and Tropical names.
Souza, Cescon, Barrieu & Flesch Advogados represented Cacique.
JDE agreed to buy quotas representing 100% of the capital stock of Graníssimo. Cacique agreed to transfer equipment and machinery it uses to operate its roasted and ground coffee business to Graníssimo. With the sale, Cacique exits the roasted and ground coffee sector; it will now focus on its core business, instant coffee.
The deal was announced on 23 January, with no value disclosed. It is subject to approval from Brazilian regulatory authorities.
