Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in Paris, São Paulo and London and Brazilian firms Pinheiro Neto Advogados and Trench, Rossi e Watanabe Advogados have helped Brazil's Natura acquire UK cosmetics company The Body Shop for 1 billion euros (US$1.1 billion).
The former owner of the UK high street chain, French cosmetics heavyweight L'Oreal, hired Linklaters' London, Paris and Hong Kong offices and Baker McKenzie LLP in London for the due diligence process. Trench Rossi advised Natura on tax matters.
The deal was signed on 9 June and is subject to regulatory approval.
Linklaters originally advised L'Oreal on its acquisition of The Body Shop for £625m (US$800 million) in 2006, while the Body Shop retained Baker McKenzie.
The Body Shop currently has more than 3,000 stores operating in 60 different countries.
